As you know, the training and testing required to get a rotorcraft rating is time-consuming and expensive.
Unfortunately, many pilots get the rating and consider the process to be over. They have to take a bi-annual check ride, but they don’t think about additional training.
Every pilot benefits from additional time spent every year refreshing the lessons learned during initial training. There is no such thing as “too much training”. Consider engaging an instructor for a few hours each year to observe your skills and habits. Time logged with an instructor may reduce the cost of insurance on your helicopter.
On your own, we recommend practicing emergency maneuvers frequently and honing the skills to control your helicopter in every situation. Spending time mastering precise control of your aircraft will pay off in enjoyment, safety, and personal satisfaction.
