There have been two reported failures of the oil pressure sender which lights the low oil pressure warning light. In one case, the loss of the sending unit allowed oil loss and engine damage, which resulted in an emergency landing. In the second situation, the failure occurred with the helicopter on the ground and was observed before damage could occur.

The current oil pressure sender is being replaced in future shipments with a sending unit designed with an operating range of maximum 250 psi. The sender will light the warning lamp when pressure drops to 20 psi.

CHR International Inc. recommends that existing oil pressure switches be upgraded to this more appropriate unit.

Replacements are available from the factory for $58 USD, including shipping.
